Catherine died peacefully at the St. Vincent Hospital – Elisabeth Bruyere Long Term Care Facility on Monday, August 26, 2024. Catherine was a graduate from the University of Ottawa, School of Nursing, BScN, 1975.
Predeceased by her beloved parents Dorothy and Ed Swimmings. She will be missed by her aunt, uncle, cousins, godchildren and many friends. They made life wonderful. Catherine also found much joy in faith, her parish community, her nursing work and lifelong friends, and pro-life work.
She wished to thank her beautifully supportive, steadfast family and friends for accompanying her during her illness. Grateful thanks to cousins Kelly Gill (Tony), Kevin McCormick (Linda Joanisse), Marie Hogg (John) and Albani Maingot (Abraham Roussel), for their tremendous devotion.
Special thanks to Dr. Jocelyn Zwicker, her caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital, especially Dr. Chris Kirby, the Palliative Care Doctors and all the 5 North staff, for their compassion and kindness.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at our Lady of Fatima Church, 153 Woodroffe Ave., Ottawa from 10 am until 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 11 am. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment of ashes in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to Action Life Ottawa or the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated.
