Larocque, Ronald Lawrence
It is with very sad hearts that the Larocque family announces the sudden passing of Ronald “Ron” Lawrence Larocque at the age of 74 on December 2, 2023, in Kitchener, Ontario. Born in London, Ontario on May 9,1949, to Jean and Adrien Larocque, Ron grew up in Montreal with his brother Bryan. Ron was married to Heather for 50 years. He was the proud father of Neil (Selena Liu) of Shenzhen, China, Ryan (Jennipher “DIL”) of Orangeville, Ontario, Eric (Alysha Saville) of Golden, B.C. and grandpa to four grandchildren, Ainsleigh, Zander and Rowyn of Orangeville, Ontario, and Alex of Shenzhen, China. Ron will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces Lisa Hicks and Allison Larocque, extended family, and close friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents and his nephew Darren.
Ron was passionate about the pursuit of knowledge, obtaining his P. Eng designation through McGill University and graduating with distinction in 1972, going on to become an expert in ozone generation technology. He lived with his family in Markham and Kitchener, Ontario, and loved going to Muskoka with family and friends. Throughout his life, he was a Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed coaching his sons in soccer and hockey. He loved his family and friends dearly along with his famous “foldovers”.
Ron made a lot of people laugh and brought joy to their lives with his silly sense of humour. No matter how Ron was feeling when asked how he was, he always responded: “Always good, never better, best day of my life.”
A small private gathering of friends and family will be held in Elora, Ontario on December 8.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Ron may be made to your local food bank.
A tree will be planted in memory of Ronald in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
