Leo Elvin Douglas Keating “Doug”
On December 3rd 2024 at Headwaters Health Care Centre Doug passed peacefully surrounded by members of his devoted support team at the age of 73.
Doug was the dear son of Violet and Frank Keating, and brother to Ray, Margaret, Evelyn and Judy.
Doug was loved and cared for by many people at Kerry’s Place Autism Services, and was a cherished friend to his housemates and peers. Doug was a gentle and kind man. He lived for several years at the Adam’s Place farm and enjoyed walking the large property, feeding the animals and collecting eggs. In recent years he embraced a quieter lifestyle, finding comfort in his rocking chair, content in the simple joys of daily routines and the company of those he considered family.
A cancer survivor, Doug embodied resilience and determination. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his dedicated and unwavering support team.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Thursday, December 12th, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorial donations to Kerry’s Place Autism Services or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Leo in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
