William Edmund “Bill” Matier of Amherstview passed away peacefully at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Wanda Olson-Matier (née Johnson) for 40 years and loving father of Michael of Toronto, Tracey of Kingston, Richard (April) of Perth, and the late Angela Fejer-Benoit. Cherished grandfather of John (Kristen), Hannah (Dan), Ashley, Emily, Chris, Kyle (Kylie), and proud great grandfather of Alice, Bentley, Hunter and Asher. Survived by his brothers Chris (Karen) of Phoenix and Terry of Kingston. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Grace Matier, his brothers Dan and Nick, and sister Doreen. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Bill worked at KGH for over 38 years where he thoroughly enjoyed helping others. He was a proud member of the Amherstview Lions Club for 25 years and a dedicated volunteer driver with VON in Napanee. He also enjoyed the Dart Club, the Bowling League, the Kingston Road Runners Camping Club and FCRV International. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 67 Main St., Odessa on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Wilton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Alban’s Anglican Church or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
