It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unfortunate passing of David “Dave” McCoy. He was a devoted and loving father to Jeremiah (Christa) and Zachariah. He was an extremely proud grandfather to Elizabeth, Aiden, and Ava. He was a devoted brother to Shelley, Deborah, Julie, and Barbara. Predeceased by his son Mathew and parents Ron and Thelma “Joan”. He will be sadly missed by his close friends and family.
Dave was a loyal, hardworking, helpful, and caring man who loved playing the guitar, telling jokes, and writing music. He was a gifted artist who could listen to a song and play it back on the guitar. He loved to draw portraits, and enjoyed writing poetry and songs. He was always one to help out with farm chores and automotive repairs. He had a strong work ethic and was quick to joke about how his sons couldn’t keep up. Dave was a believer in the motto of “Paying it Forward”, always one to put others far ahead of himself.
A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at the Kingston Naval Veteran’s Association (1138 Sydenham Road, Kingston) on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4 – 7 pm. Should friends or family desire to donate in his name, donations can be made to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. This organization was instrumental with providing assistance to his grandson’s family while he battled cancer as a young child.
Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373).
