Ronald “Ron” Charles Moore
June 5th, 1942-October 20th 2024
“It is with profound sadness that the family of Ronald “Ron” Charles Moore announce his peaceful passing on October 20th 2024, at the age of 82 years. Survived by his loving wife Lillian Moore (Morin), father to children Phillip (Melissa) and Janice (Geoff) Papa to grandchildren Jocelyn Irvine (Cameron), Nick Gribbons, and Sara and great-grandchildren Ena and Eli Irvine.
Predeceased by parents Charles Moore and Viola (Née Tate), siblings Edith Coe, Bob Moore (Gayle), Charles Jr. Moore, Gerry Moore, William Moore, Russell Moore (Debbie). Survived by sister Vi “Babe” Turcotte, many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Ron was a member of the Cobalt Royal Canadian Legion branch 44 since 1970. Ron enlisted in the Canadian armed forces in 1963 and served with the Royal Canadian dragoons stationed Gagetown. In 1965, he was posted in Cyprus where he served a six-month tour of duty with the United Nations peacekeeping force. He was awarded a Canadian peacekeeping Service medal. After his service he worked in construction, for the CSR and international truck driving.
You could find Ron walking around Cobalt lake, admiring the swans, saying hello to everyone he ran into, or watching the sunsets. He was also an avid Leafs and Blue jays fan, never missing a game. He loved to hunt, fish, camp at Bass Lake and doing activities with his grandchildren while cheering them on. He moved mountains for everyone he knew, he was a social butterfly until the end.
We would like to thank all the staff at the NBRHC on B3 for their kind and compassionate care Ron received.
We would also like to thank Dr. Locke for the care and kindness she gave Ron over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Cobalt Royal Canadian legion branch 44 or the North Bay regional health centre would be greatly appreciated.
Small celebration of life will be held Sunday November 3rd, 2024, from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm at the Martyn Funeral Home North Bay.
