Denise Hebert Obituary
It is with such deep sorrow that we announce the gentle passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend Denise on Saturday August 10, 2024 at the age of 75. Left to lovingly remember her are her son Christian (special friend Alisha Belanger), and her treasured grandson Alexander. She also leaves her brother Charley Hebert (Linda), and brother-in-law Marcel Remillard, her nephew Ian Remillard (Cindy), her niece Tarah-Lynn Remillard (Jean), special cousin and best friend Glenda St. Amour (Mike, predeceased) and many other cousins and wonderful family friends. She will be especially missed by the community of Mackay Homes, where she spent her golden years and the special friendships she made there. Denise is predeceased by her parents Alda (née Restoule), Elzear “Bert” Hebert, her beloved brother and sister Jean-Claude and Darlene, infant sister Celine, and cousins Shirley Renaud and her son Adrien, and May Kelly (Norman).
The family wishes to thank Doctors Graham and Shulman for the care and efforts they gave in the latter time of her life. Her son also wishes to thank the first responders, police service and staff at the Hillside Funeral Home for their compassion and genuine kindness and understanding during a very difficult time.
Denise was an extraordinary, unselfish, wonderful, devoted woman. During her working years, her efforts and the friendships she made while at the Rexall Post Office lasted long after her retirement and were valued highly. Her family greatly admired her steadfast Roman Catholic faith, and she shared that with many people through church community and her leadership and efforts with the Catholic Women’s League. She loved to help others and was a very active senior over the years in her community, participating in events and writing a newsletter for her fellow residents. She had a wonderful tough-love approach to fostering growth, strength and self-reliance. She was a rarity as someone who was so powerfully independent and also so reliably positive, cheerful, and humorous. She never stopped smiling and loved to laugh. Her constant thoughtfulness will be especially missed. Denise had a beautiful ability to make everything special, from her bottomless trust and love of friends, to occasions and family holidays and gatherings, and the smallest knick-knack, always remembering who it came from and what it meant to her. As a mother to all of us in our family at one time or another, we were immeasurably fortunate to have her throughout our lives.
The apple of Denise’s eye was her Grandson Alexander. The two shared such a special bond and such pure love is beautiful and rare. She took pride in every one of his accomplishments and joy in every moment they shared. This infectious love was felt by every one of her family and friends, as it was very clear how much she cared for everyone who was in her life and how she always had time for us, which is the most precious gift of all. She will be with us always and will be forever in our hearts.
Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd from 1-3 pm on Friday September 6th, followed by a funeral service at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Denise also supported her grandson Alexander’s campaign every year for the Terry Fox Run. Please consider donating during their campaign this year in her memory.
