KOZAK, William ‘Bill’ – January 8,1922- June 22, 2024, Lifetime member of Canadian and U.S. Professional Golfers Association, WW2 Veteran, golf legend Bill Kozak passed away peacefully at Millennium Trail Manor at the age of 102. Beloved husband of 67 years to Irma (nee Upper). Cherished father to Arden and best friend to his son-in-law Ron Honey. Predeceased by his son Ben (2005), his parents Luka and Mary (nee Turko) Kozak, brothers Michael, Stephen, Andrew, sisters Ann, Catharine and recently his fur baby Rosie. Survived by brother David (Marie) Kozak. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Port Moody B.C. His family moved to Ontario while he was still a toddler. His love for golf began as an 11 year old youngster caddying at Lookout Point. As he grew up he worked diligently perfecting his natural talent for the sport and after military service at the age of 27 he turned professional working at St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, Oaklands in Niagara Falls and several clubs in the United States while at the same time competing in tournaments all over the map. He played in the Canadian Open 15 times and won the Canadian Seniors 5 times. In winter he followed the sun. He was inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. After retiring from club work and competition he took great pleasure in teaching youngsters (and adults) the fundamentals of the game. In later years he and Irma enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and to Augusta Ga. to watch the Masters. Bill was still driving a the age of 100 and still had his drivers license up until this year. Family and friends are invited to join us at the Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street. Visiting Wednesday June 26, 2024 from 2pm to 4 pm, 6pm to 8 pm and from 12 pm to 1 pm Thursday June 27 2024. A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will take place Thursday June 27, 2024 at 1pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
