PEEL, Susan – Passed away peacefully at Niagara Long Term Care Residence in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Saturday November 4, 2023 at the age of 74. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elsie Peel. Loving sister of David (the late Mary) Peel. Caring aunt of Andrew Peel and Laura (Pat) Lee. Great-aunt of Miya, Owen and Gabe. Susan was an honorary member of the Yates family. She is survived by her friend and cohort Ruth Yates since entering Toronto General Hospital Nursing School in 1968 and her sister Anne and children Burke (Qiao) Pond, Meghan (Peter Fairweather) Pond and Rachel (Glen) Cookson. Aunt of Gary, Liam, Emma and Quinn. Predeceased by Douglas and Margaret Yates. She will be fondly remembered by her cousins and extended family in England and New Zealand.
Susan had a gift for showing love to all the people she met and was loved in return. Her friends were cherished. Susan trained to be a Nurse at Toronto General Hospital and went on to work in many hospitals in Ontario, as well as Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. She attended Christ Church Anglican in Brampton for many years and regularly participated in church life, including reading lessons, bazaars and was a great supporter of the choir. Susan loved to travel, especially trips to England and taking many cruises throughout the world. She also enjoyed her pets, both dogs and cats and loved to spend time at home in her garden. Susan was a kind and gentle person who would love to be remembered with a smile and a laugh and a kind act to friends and strangers.
Her family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Niagara Long Term Care Residence for their kind and compassionate care. Susan’s family would also wish to thank Dr. Sheldon Cheskes who was her family doctor for so many years.
Susan, you will be missed. God bless.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service to celebrate Susan’s life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
