STRANGES, Nicola John ‘Nick’ – Passed away peacefully while holding his beloved wife’s hand, with his loving family by his side, at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday November 8, 2023 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 56 years to Rose (nee Vescio), cherished father of Clara (Rob) DiGiovanni, Nick (Jody) Stranges and loving Nono of Victoria and Robert DiGiovanni, Danika and Nick Jr.Stranges. Dear brother of Armando (Lina) Stranges, Maria (Pasqualino) Stranges, Ninetta (Antonio) Stranges, Gioietta (Rosario) Stranges and brother-in-law of Frank Vescio, Flower (Debbie) Vescio, Rachael (Domenic) Stranges, Lou (Cathy) Vescio and Mary Vescio. Nick is survived by his Zio Luigi (the late Angela) Stranges, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Chiara Stranges, parents-in-law Michele and Christina Vescio, siblings Antonio (Elizabetta) Stranges, Vincenzo (Teresa) Stranges, Guliano Stranges, Catarina Stranges and brother-in-law Tony Vescio. Family was everything to Nick, and to his children he was the best teacher in the world. He taught them how to have courage, strength, to love one another, to listen and to be caring and compassionate to others. He was a great outdoorsman, a true adventurer, who loved to hunt and fish. He has caught Moose in Alberta and Northern Ontario and Caribu in Labrador. He was an avid gardener and a talented maker of wine, soppressata and prosciutto. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St, Niagara Falls, visiting Friday November 10, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday November 11, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s Church, with the Rite of Committal to follow at Fairview Mausoleum.
