LUKAC, Michal (July 20, 1941- October 3, 2023) – Passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday October 3, 2023 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of 57 years to Magdalena (nee Porubensky). Loving and cherished father of Miroslav and Michal Lukac. Michal is survived by his brother Jan Lukac, sisters-in-law Anna Lukac and Maria Porubensky. Predeceased by his parents Jan and Maria (nee Stefankova) Lukac, brothers Andrej Lukac, Vladislav Lukac, sisters Maria Lukac, Anna Lukac and brother-in-law Michael Porubensky. Born in Zbince, Czechoslovakia, Michal came to Niagara Falls in 1969 with his wife and son Miroslav. As a devoted family man, he wanted to make a better life for his family in Canada. Michal was an active member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting his vegetables from seeds and sharing the fruits of his labour with those around him. He was hardworking and a great handyman who could fix anything. He worked for the Norton Company of Canada for 34 years. After his retirement, he spent his time helping his son Michal with his Dunn Street Bed and Breakfast. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Doctors and nurses in the ICU at GNGH for their care and compassion. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St, Niagara Falls, visiting Friday October 6, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Panychida will be held at the Funeral Home at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday October 7, 2023 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, with the Rite of Committal to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
