CARROLL, Helen – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Carroll (nee Kovacs), of Niagara Falls, Ontario on February 13, 2024 at the age of 98. Helen was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada at the age of 6. She held many different jobs throughout her life, but her fondest memories were when she worked in the Payroll Department for the iconic Rosberg’s Department Store in downtown Niagara Falls. Helen was a wonderful cook and was active throughout her life. She was in a bowling league into her 80’s and travelled into her 90’s. Helen enjoyed driving her car around town running her own errands until the age of 96. She lived independently up until the very end, the past 30 years in her apartment at Lutheran Homes. As a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Helen was always so well put together and had such a sharp mind. She loved word and jigsaw puzzles. She also had a passion for watching golf and tennis and would be glued to the television for every tournament.
Helen was predeceased by her brother Louis, sister Pearl, granddaughter Laura and great granddaughter Haley. She will be forever missed by everyone she leaves behind: her sisters Rose and Irene; her children Nancy, Tracy (Larry), Brian (Jill) and Colleen (Joe); her grandchildren Lena (James), Christina (Steve), Gary (Jaqueline), and Shannon (Brody); her great grandchildren Austin, Braxtin, Daisy, Owen, Jacob, Sean, and Justin; and the many good friends she made over her long life.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation or The War Amps, which were some of her favorite charities to support.
