Bissonnette, Dr. Peter Hume Hartry
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce after a short illness, the passing of Dr. Peter Hume Hartry Bissonnette on June 21, 2024 in his 95th year.
Peter was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Grace (2021).
Father to Bill (Dianne), Bob (Diana), Doug (Jane) and Donald (Dawn). His pride and joy were his grandchildren Janine (Peder) Madsen, Michael (Roberta) Bissonnette, Lauren (Cody) Drzewiecki and Logan (Hannah) Bissonnette as well as five great-grandsons, Wesley, Jackson, Hunter, Archer and Malcolm and two great-granddaughters, Nadia and McKenna. Peter, a veterinarian from 1952 to1997 always chose service to his family and community. Peter was a member of the Northern Light Masonic Lodge and Havelock Chapter No.63 Royal Arch Masons.
Peter’ passion was his membership in Lions Clubs International for over 71 years holding several board positions. He served as District Governor in 1964-1965 in Ripley Ontario as well as achieving the title International Counsellor. Peter has been awarded three Presidential Certificates of Appreciation, one Presidential Leadership Medal and one Presidential Medal. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, been awarded a Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship and a Helen Keller Fellowship. Peter is also a Life Member of the Lions Foundation of Canada.
A Celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
