CANAL, Concetta (nee Lanni) – It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, who passed away with her loving family by her side, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday January 7, 2024 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of 46 years to the late Luigi (2007) and cherished mother of Pierina (Carlo) Felicetti, Linda (Tim) Chamberlain and Celeste (Joe) D’Addio. Loving grandmother of Julia (Stephen) Mateyk, Robert, Alexander, Giancarlo, Domenic, Isabella, and great-grandmother of Lucas, Benjamin. She will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Antoinetta Lanni, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Francesco (1971) and Celeste (nee Maietta,1991), her parents-in-law Moses and Pierina Canal, brothers Giuseppe (Addolorata), Carmen, Pasquale, Nicola (Carmela), Michel (Brigette), Alessandro, sister Addolorata, brothers-in-law Cesere, Giacomo, Beniamino, Angelo and sisters-in-law Anna and Luigia. Mrs. Canal will be remembered by those who had the pleasure of meeting her as patient, wise, generous and caring friend to many. She was one-of-a-kind, a gem with a heart of gold who excelled at seeing the best in everyone. Her social nature, humour, grace, courage, wisdom and her position as a pillar of strength for her family will be cherished. She was a true Italian women who loved to cook and took pride in her backyard garden. Her heritage and spirit will live on through the traditional recipes she has passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of GNGH for their kindness, care and compassion shown to our mother. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Church, with the Rite of Committal to follow at Fairview Mausoleum.
