MORELLATO-ALLEN, Barbara – Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday January 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of 16 years to Robert ‘Bob’ Allen. Predeceased by her husband Alphonso Morellato (1999). Loving mother of P. Wayne Morellato, David (Catalina) Morellato and Rebecca Morellato (Brad Haehnel) and stepmother to John (Judy) Allen and Nancy Allen. Cherished Gramma Barb’ to Elizabeth Morellato, Ashley (Nick) Sabourin, Petra Morellato, Sydney ‘Tegan’ Morellato, Theresa Morellato, Christopher Haehnel, Chesna Bozic, Alena Bozic, Lucas Bozic, Robert Allen and Abigail Allen. Dear great-grandmother to Olivia, Addisynn, Kaspen and Luke. Barb is survived by her sister Anne Petro, in-laws Andy (Gail) Morellato, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John and Barbara Petro, parents-in-law Mario and Helen Morellato, sister Mary Lorence, brothers-in-law John Petro and Bill Lorence. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the St. Catharines Site of Niagara Health System for all their care and compassion, especially Mandy Stoker. Barb lived an extra-ordinary life. She traveled the world, was a champion wood carver with the Niagara Falls Woodcarvers Association, a talented photographer, naturalist, and art lover but most of all was a devoted mother. At a time when there were not equal opportunities for women, Barb was a strong advocate for wage equity, she was a pro-union supporter and was actively involved with the NDP party holding the position as Campaign Manager. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Tuesday January 16, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. The Rite of Committal will follow at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery.
