GREENWOOD, Walter
1949 – 2023
Passed away at home on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at the age of 73 years. He was born on December 9, 1949 to the late Arthur (Bert) Greenwood and the late Dorothy Greenwood (nee Plastow).
He will be missed by his wife Kathy Greenwood (nee Woods) of 53 years, by his son David and by his granddaughter Fabianne. Walter will also be missed by his sisters Mary (George) and Helen (Les). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Walter was predeceased by his two baby girls, Rhonda and Rebecca as well as by his father-in-law Ernest Woods and mother-in-law Lela Woods.
Walter was raised in the Family Farm in Hudson Township. No matter where he was, he always went back to the farm to do the haying. He attended George Brown College in Toronto in 1976 thus starting a 47 year career in the trucking business. He was very proud of David and Fabianne. Walter enjoyed traveling and playing cards. He was known to be a bit grumpy if he didn’t get a good “hand”. He had a lot of trucking stories that he shared with his trucking buddies.
Family & Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative – Perrin Chapel (128 Whitewood Ave. New Liskeard, ON) on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 7 – 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 at 1 p.m.
In memory of Walter, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
