Shirley Mary Elizabeth Gleason / Henry / McCooeye
Unexpectedly and too soon in her 71st year we lost our loving mother due to complications related to respiratory illness.
Dear mother to Meaghan, Shannon and Tara (Kim) Henry and devoted wife to Barry McCooeye. Proud grandmother to Rory, Avery, Reese, Violet and Rowan. Predeceased by her beloved father Emmanuel Gleason, mother Yvette Lacroix and sister Eileen Gleason.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, Gerald (Louise), Lynn, Jimmy (Donna), and Elaine (Paul), and by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Mom was very charismatic, full of energy and loved life. Mom shone bright and had a wonderful sense of humour and sharp wit. She was a beautiful soul, intelligent and kind-hearted woman who seemed bigger than life. Her greatest joy in life was her three girls and her grandchildren; who loved spending time with Grandma ‘Boat’. We are grateful for the many memories that will be cherished and the legacy which will live on in her grandchildren.
Growing up and spending many years in Venosta, Quebec inspired a love of nature, animals and the water in Mom. Shirley and Barry enjoyed many years filled with love on the banks of the Ottawa River where they took pleasure in watching nature everyday.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Road Nepean on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association www.lung.ca/donate
