It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Grandy at the Queensway Carleton Hospital at the age of 59. Ken was a wonderful husband, great father, and good friend to many.
Leaving to mourn are his wife, Lisa Grandy (nee Hennessey) of Kilbride, Newfoundland, son Brendan Grandy, parents Leonard and Addie Grandy of Grand Bank, Newfoundland, brother Clinton Grandy and his family of Marystown, Newfoundland, along with other relatives, coworkers and friends.
Ken graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a bachelor of Science (1986) and a bachelor of Engineering (1989). He had a fulfilling career as a Naval Architect, first with MIL Systems and then with the Department of National Defense. Married to Lisa in 1997 and father to Brendan in 2003, Ken’s favourite moments were spending time with and caring for this family; he was always interested and always involved. He loved to cook, woodwork, and garden. He was always up for spending time with friends and having a laugh.
Ken was very touched by the kind words, actions, and support given to him by his family, friends and colleagues. We would like to thank everyone for the support and kindness shown to him and us during this time. We find it comforting to know that he was loved and thought so well of by so many.
If all the world were ours to give, we’d give it, yes and more, to see the face of Ken coming smiling through the door.
Cremation to take place at Tubman’s Funeral Home on Richmond Road, Nepean. At his request there will be no wake. Instead, Lisa and Brendan will be following his wish of organizing a get together for all of his friends to have a good time remembering him. The location and time will be shared at a later date.
Donations may be made in his name to the Queensway Carleton Hospital, who’s care was nothing short of excellent; or to a charity of your choosing.
