It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Bennett in his 65th year, on November 14, 2023, peacefully at home. Beloved husband and best friend to Judie for over 30 years. Devoted father of Dawson, Holly, Mason, and Jaden. Loving son of Iris, and Don (pre-deceased), brother of Diane and Doug (Linda), brother-in-law of Heather (Andrew), and son-in-law of Daisy, and Gord (pre-deceased). Proud uncle of Robyn (Robert), Kathryn (John), Adam (Lisa), Andrea (Chris), Emily, Sarah, Hannah, and Wyatt, and many great-nieces and nephews.
David lived with enthusiasm and integrity. In his younger years, he was a certified scuba diver, commissioned officer of the Canadian Armed Forces reserve, a “big brother” to Jeremy and Trevor, and later a long-time scouting volunteer. In his early career, he led human resources and labour relations functions in aerospace and other sectors. Most importantly, Dave was a generous and kind husband and father, and he dedicated himself to his family’s well-being as a stay-at-home dad. In his community, he always brought smiles to those he encountered in his daily life, with characteristic humour and when needed, a listening ear. His well-known love of animals lives on in his children.
Visitation will be held at Tubman Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will be received at a funeral service on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society, Scouts Canada, or Big Brothers/Big Sisters Canada.
