Dean Malcolm passed away peacefully with his children by his side on January 4th, 2024, at the age of 77 in Kingston, Ontario. Born on July 2nd, 1946, in the town of Renfrew, Ontario, Dean was the cherished child of Clarence and Hazel Malcolm. Raised in the close-knit community of Slate Falls, Ontario, Dean grew up in a household bustling with ten siblings. A beloved husband and father, Dean’s passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by his three children; Darren, Ryan (Stephanie), and Natasha (Jesse); his eight grandchildren Melissa, Myranda, Madison, Paige, Ava, Lily, Zachary and Hazel; his great grandchildren Harley Rose and Jadon; and his five siblings Garth, Eleanor, Carl, Dwight, and Sharon. He will also be missed by his extended family and numerous friends. Dean is predeceased by his wife, Kathy (Baker); his parents Clarence and Hazel; and five of his siblings; Dalt, Faye, Don, Dearl, and Gary. Dean’s vibrant spirit, zest for life, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends will forever remain etched in the hearts and memories of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His gifts of laughter, love, and kindness will serve as a guiding light, bringing comfort and inspiration to those he touched. Leaving home at a tender age, Dean initially joined the army before embarking on a lifelong career as a long-haul truck driver. His dedication to his work and his family earned him significant respect and admiration from his fellow truck drivers.
In his leisure time, Dean delighted in the tranquility of fishing, relished in the company of his loved ones, and found solace on the family farm, and on his family property in Slate Falls, Ontario.
Though Dean’s passion for life was immeasurable, his capacity to love was even greater. Known for his genuine and unwavering love, he had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished in his presence. Dean’s heart knew no bounds, and he loved deeply and unconditionally. Let us gather together to honour his remarkable journey and pay homage to the incredible legacy he leaves behind. A wake to honour Dean’s life will be held on January 20th, from 1-4 at Hannah Funeral Home in Tamworth, located at 6689 Wheeler St. (613-379-2997)
A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date for Dean to lay to rest with his beloved wife, Kathy.
