Obituary of Marty Vander Velden
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marty Vander Velden on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024, a loving husband and great friend to Lex.
Marty was an extremely proud father to Martin (Lara), David (Suzanne), Samuel (Kaitlin), and deceased son +Jesse. He was a loving grandfather to their children (Marty’s) Baylee, Danae, Kaitlyn and Max; (Dave’s) Piper and Grayson; (Samuel’s) Thomas and Benjamin.
Marty’s family came to Canada in April 1953 with just the immediate family of his dad +Johannes and mother +Cato; his sister Mary (+Leo) Hoefnagels, John (Nellie), +Herb (Rosemary), +Anne (+Urb) Mader, Bill (Tina) and Hank (Diane). This family has grown, and Marty will be truly missed by a very large, warm and loving bunch of nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed terribly by his in-laws who loved him so much; +Kay Ryckman, +Linda House, Sue (+Dave) McLay, Maureen Nefs, +Ken Ryckman, Ron (Laurie) Ryckman and all their wonderful clan.
Marty was exceptional because he was “that guy” who was easy to talk to, quick to laugh with and you always wanted to sit next to. He would be the one to get things done quickly and duct tape was apt to be involved. If he was your friend, he let you know it and you were lucky to have known him.
Family will receive friends at the ELLIOTT-MADILL FUNERAL HOME, Mount Brydges on Sunday, December 29th, 2024 from 6 – 8 pm and Monday from 11 am to 1 pm where the Celebration of Marty’s life will be held commencing at 1 pm. Rev. Bonnie Rayner officiating. Cremation to follow with inurnment Mount Brydges Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marty can be made to the London and Regional Cancer Program, 800 Commissioners Rd E, London, ON N6A 5W9 www.lhsc.on.ca gratefully acknowledged.
