Obituary of Martin Stephen McCormick
Peacefully and surrounded by family at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, Ontario on March 1st, 2024, Martin McCormick began his spirit journey in his 72nd year.
Martin is survived by his siblings Christopher (Donna), Andrew (Rose) and Veronica (Andy) Charbonneau. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Martin was predeceased by his loving parents Francis and Nellie (nee Wood, a war bride) McCormick.
Martin grew up in Spanish, Ontario and later moved to southwestern Ontario. He worked for many years in the non-profit housing sector, securing homes for Indigenous clients. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travel, sports, theatre, and family gatherings. As a loving uncle, he was always supportive of the endeavours of his nieces and nephews. He was proud of his Ojibwe and British ancestry and was a member of the Batchewana First Nation.
At Martin’s request, there will be no funeral and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In memory of Martin, who loved animals, any donations can be made to a local animal shelter of your choice.
Martin’s family would like to thank the staff at Bluewater Health for the compassionate care provided in his final days.
