Obituary of Marjorie Josephine Jackson
Marjorie Josephine Jackson passed away peacefully in our arms on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy.
Loving wife of the late Ross Jackson. Much loved mother of Michael Jackson (Debbie) and Pat Jackson (George). Cherished grandmother of Derek Jackson and Troy Jackson (Tammy). Great grandmother of Eli, Sophie, Ayla (Cameron) and Zane. Great great grandmother of Callum. Marjorie is survived by her brother Gerry Broomfield, for whom she played an important role as caregiver. She will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Dearly missed by Rick Beneteau.
Marj grew up in Strathroy, and met and married the man of her dreams, Ross Jackson, before raising their loving family on the Jackson family farm in Delaware. While raising the family, she was a devoted caregiver to the elder family members too. Whether it was playing cards, dancing, curling or some other fun-filled group activity, Marj lived life to the fullest and took great pleasure in hosting family and friends while sharing her baking talents along the way.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Erma and William Broomfield of Strathroy; her loving husband Ross; and siblings Margaret Fraser, Patty Goldrick, John Broomfield and William Broomfield.
At Marj’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held graveside in the spring.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Patsy Faulds and the caring individuals that made it possible for Marj to stay in her own home as long as possible. Daughter Patty would especially like to thank her cousin Debbie Fraser for her abiding support over the past couple of years. Special thanks also to Heidi and Dr. Taylor at the Southwest Medical Centre and Dr. Marcou and the loving staff at Sprucedale Care Centre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Delaware Lions Club or Ladies Auxiliary of the Delaware Legion Branch #598 would be greatly appreciated by the family. Both Marj and Ross were integral in starting these two organizations.
