It is with deep sadness, the family announces Bill passed peacefully on May 31, 2024, with family at his side at the age of 84.
Bill was born in 1939 to Violet and Gordon Pearcey in St. John’s, NL and was educated in St. John’s.
He joined the RCAF in 1957 and trained as an instrument and electrical technician. He returned to NL after his first posting to Greenwood, NS to marry his high school sweetheart, June, in 1962. In addition to Greenwood, Bill served at CFB Torbay, NL, CFB Summerside, PE, and CFB Southport, MB. He is a recipient of the Canadian Forces decoration and service bar and two Queen Jubilee medals. Following his 25-year military career, Bill worked at Philips Cable and the Lion’s Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Bill was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving on the executive for several years and helping many veterans obtain the benefits they deserved, earning the Governor General’s Sovereign Medal for Volunteers medal for his tireless efforts.
Bill is survived by his loving wife June (nee Bennett) and three children, Gary, Greg, and Dawn, two sisters Barb (Ron) and Lorraine (Ray) and predeceased by brother Charles. He also leaves to mourn his sisters in law Shirl, Judy, brother- in-law Billy (Donna) grandchildren Logan, Halle and Melissa, great granddaughter Kayleigh and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a loyal friend to many and will always be remembered for his selfless service to family, country, veterans, friends, and others.
A celebration of life will take place June 15, 2024, between 1-3, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 632 in Orleans, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
