Margaret Marian Goddard (nee Crossing) – 1923-2024
Margaret passed away peacefully at home in Mississauga in her 102nd year on August 17, 2024. Loving wife to Jack Goddard for 68 years, until his passing in 2014. Marg and Jack raised their children on the family farm in Dixie; Linda (Eric) Lenczner, Nancy (Paul) Bunyard and Philip James Goddard (predeceased in 2019).
Beloved Granny to her four grandchildren: Sarah (Tom) Caputo, Christine (Brad) Darling, Michael (Christelle) Lenczner, and Laura Bunyard. Margaret was blessed with seven great grandchildren: Jane and Allison Caputo, Amy, Jenna, Jack and Leah Darling, and Noah Lenczner.
Margaret grew up in Fort William, Ontario with her parents James Kenneth and Ellen Crossing and her sister Doreen (Bob) Taylor (predeceased). She moved to Toronto and graduated as a nurse from Toronto General Hospital. Soon after she married Jack and moved to the Goddard family farm where they worked and lived growing apples and mushrooms. She cherished her time at the cottage on Lake Simcoe surrounded by the family. Margaret was one of a kind and lived for her family and friends. She was the epitome of love, patience and generosity and she will be deeply missed.
The family would like to give thanks to Margaret’s incredibly special caregivers Edite Lima and Olha Cimankova.
Friends may call at the Turner and Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Tuesday August 20, 2024 from 4-8 pm. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday August 21, 2024, at 11 am. Internment will take place at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery.
If desired, donations in Margaret’s name may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World.
