It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Ann Lalonde, beloved wife of David Lalonde, cherished sister to Robert Young (Cathy), Theresa Alt (Howard), Michael Young (Janice), Mark Young (Barry Hammond), and Catherine Young (Cormac O’Brien). Beloved aunt to Kyle, Jessica, Roan, and Sarah, and beloved niece to Joan Rivard. Predeceased by parents Jack and Lorraine Young.
Although small in stature, Margaret’s heart and spirit were mighty. Her passion for life and determination were inspiring to all who knew her. As a devoted elementary school teacher, she brought creativity and the love of learning to her students. Her love of the outdoors in all seasons was shared with many friends and family – from swimming, tennis, paddleboarding, biking, snowmobiling, long walks with the family dog Gizmo, and lately, to pickleball. Margaret embraced it all with skill and a great sense of fun and adventure. She was just as dedicated to her indoor passions of sewing, cooking, baking (desserts were deemed their food group), home decorating, and ‘focussed’ shopping. Recently, she enthusiastically devoted much time with David in the design and renovation of their dream home, and her joy and optimism were an inspiration to all around her.
Margaret’s Catholic faith and her mantra “Always believe something wonderful is about to happen” was important to her and she shared that with friends, family and strangers alike in her generosity and thoughtfulness.
A fun, warm and superb hostess, with a mischievous sense of humour, her door was always open for family, friends and neighbours.
Margaret, with her laughter, kindness, passion for life, humour, determination, and faith will be deeply missed, and she will always be remembered with love.
Family and friends may call at Turner & Porter “Peel Chapel” Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
