John Haines, at age 99, died peacefully Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.
John was born November 29, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario as one of four children to Charlie and Agnes Haines. He attended Western Tech High School and achieved a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, graduating in the Class of 1951, following which he began a long and distinguished career with Kodak Canada. John married Esther Josephine Tropea in 1951 and they enjoyed a remarkable 72 years of marriage!
John was an accomplished golfer and member at the Weston Golf and Country Club. Golf was his passion, and he managed to successfully combine both Engineering and golfing skills together which made him competitive into his nineties!
John is survived by his son Alan, son Stuart, Daughter-in-law May and grandchildren Stephen and Victoria.
As are the family’s wishes, a public reception is not being held. Interment of remains is planned for the Spring of 2025 when John and Esther will once again be together.
