We as a family knew the day was coming when you would be leaving this world for your final home in heaven. A bitter sweet parting for us but we know you are not suffering anymore. We hold dear to our hearts the memories of times past, family events at our home on Goth Avenue, Keswick Drive, and most recently, fast forward to your final weeks with us. Playing many of your favourite songs, we all held vigil at your bedside, sharing stories, holding your hand, hugging you and whispering in your ear how much we loved you, praying with you, giving words of encouragement, being thankful and telling you how blessed we were to have you as our dad.
Things that I will remember….It was so important for you to get to know others, to take an interest in them. You made them feel cared for, that someone remembered them and thought of them. A father to the fatherless many, many times, taking them under your wing of support and guidance. Your care was felt. Your love for family, making sure we were all looked after, your strength inspires us, your love surpassing and unconditional.
Now….
A day of sorrow mixed with knowing that you are now with mom, your brother Mel, your mom and dad, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends and mostly the Lord, makes getting through this a little bit easier. A celebration is going on in heaven…I know it!!
