Franz Johannes Thiel

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Franz Johannes Thiel at the age of 90. Franz passed away peacefully at Trillium Health Partners, Reactivation Care Centre, Toronto, ON on December 21, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Thiel and his loving children Adrian (Myriam) Thiel and Deborah (Marco) Maggiotto and by his four grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Samantha and Nicole.
Franz was born on May 10, 1934 in Ernestinenhoehe, Eastern Prussia. After the war his family then settled in Germany where he lived until he immigrated to Canada at the age of 18. In Canada he eventually settled in Mississauga, ON where he lived until early this year.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff on Trillium Health Partners Mississauga, McCall Centre Toronto and RCC Toronto for their care and support, and for also ensuring his last days were dignified and comfortable.
Family and friends will be welcomed at Turner & Porter – Neweduk – Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. West, Mississauga, ON. Visitation on Thursday January 2nd from 5-8pm.
Funeral service will be held on Friday January 3rd at 11am in the chapel, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer’s Society.
