Surrounded by the love of his life, his wifeSusan, Doug bid farewell in the early morning at Credit Valley Hospital on January 13 2024, after facing several health hardships with the courage of a hero. A true fighter in every sense of the word and known for his unwavering strength, Doug faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination that left an indelible mark on those who witnessed his journey. His wisdom was a guiding light for many, whether offering sage advice or sharing a witty remark, Doug’s intelligence and
humour left a lasting impression.
In the printing industry since his 20s, Doug swiftly climbed the professional ladder, and was the epitome of hard work and dedication. His commitment to excellence and perseverance set him apart earning the respect and admiration of his peers.
Doug’s interests were diverse as his character. He was passionate for the Sunday car races, and his nightly ritual of catching up on the news. His fascination with history came alive through documentaries, and he dedicated countless hours to learning new things on YouTube. The garage was his haven, filled with the
rhythmic sound of puttering around. Weekends meant scenic country drives and tranquil moments in nature, cultivating a serene retreat in the backyard.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Susan, and his adored children, Jason, Lindsay and Derek, along with his beloved granddaughter Abigail. Doug’s impact extends to his siblings, including his twin sister Darlene, brothers Ted and Bill, and now he is reunited in eternal peace with his sister Peggy and parents
Betty and William.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the caring staff of the Critical Care Unit at Credit Valley Hospital. Their dedication and compassion provided comfort during challenging moments, and their kindness will always be remembered.
A celebration of Doug’s well-lived life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can come together to honour and share cherished memories of a man who touched so many lives. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy that will be treasured in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
