In Celebration of
Beverly West
June 23, 1930 –
December 24, 2024
Our wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother died peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, December 24th, under the compassionate care of Ian Anderson House. Beloved wife of William Howard Kent West, who died in January 2014, and loving mother of Sandra (Robert Short), Gordon (Pam), and Carol (Shawn O’Brien). Much loved grandmother of Alison (Christopher Martins, Jack and Max), Robyn (Brian Weatherseed, Quinn), Kyle West (Amy Kwan), Scott West, Leah (John Macnamara, John Gordon and William), Timothy O’Brien and Shannon Vu (Lena Sawyer Vu). Sister of the late Glenn Brockett (Evelyn-d) and Donald Brockett (Shelley). Sister-in-law of the late John West (Betty-d) and the late Patricia Cameron (Gordon). Cherished aunt of 14 nieces and nephews.
Bev was born on June 23, 1930, to Earle Brockett and Lois Seccombe in Buffalo, New York, and moved with her family to Toronto in 1936. She attended Havergal College (class of 1947) and the University of Toronto (Occupational Therapy, class of 1951). She married Bill on January 11, 1952, and moved to Clarkson, Ontario, to a house they built together, in which she remained until weeks before her death. They were active in the Clarkson community, making lifelong friends and were very involved members of Christ First United Church for over 70 years. Bev volunteered for the Oakville Hospital for almost four decades and was an Alpha Epsilon Service Club member for many years. She frequently volunteered with the Rotary Club of Mississauga West and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow in 2015.
Visitation will be held at Turner and Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St, (N of QEW), Mississauga, on Friday, Jan 10, from 2 to 4 PM and from 7 to 9 PM. A celebration of Life will be held at Christ First United, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Clarkson, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11 AM. Remembrances may be made to Ian Anderson House, P.O. Box 61034, 511 Maple Grove Drive, Oakville, ON, L6J 7P5 if desired.
The staff and volunteers at IAH are truly angels on earth, and their compassion and support will impact us forever. Our family also wishes to thank the Cancer Care staff of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, and especially Dr. Ghate and his team, for their incredible efforts that both extended and gave her the best quality of life during her illness.
Bev was loved by many. We are so blessed and will carry her in our hearts forever.
