Passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 22, 1943 and was the last surviving member of her family who disembarked from the Aquatania in March 1948 after WWII.
Predeceased by her parents Hilda and Kenneth Mackenzie, brothers Ronald and William Mackenzie. Survived by her children Kathryn (James) and Kenneth (Tammy), her grandchildren Andrew, David, Shelby, Kacey, her great granddaughters Cloey and Avery. Cousin of Robin Mackenzie Duff of Edinburgh, Scotland, sister-in-law of Carol Mackenzie of Bath (Kingston), nieces Heather, Christine, Debbie and families in Kingston area.
Dorothy enjoyed being out of doors, taught outdoor survival and canoeing skills through Girl Guides of Canada; was a Realtor in Markham and Toronto prior to relocating to Minden in June 1987 when she bought Orange Grove Resort and continued to enjoy meeting and assisting clients with their real estate requirements.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 1:00 until 4:00 pm at the Orange Grove Resort, 56 Orde St., Minden.
Memorial Donations to the Minden Community Food Centre would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged through the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Box 427, Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0.
