Alice May Sauve (nee O’Connell) January 2, 1931-April 1, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Alice who passed away peacefully at the age of 93
at Caressant Care in Marmora, Ontario. Alice is predeceased by her loving husband Leo (1927-2016).
Alice is lovingly remembered by her children: Joseph Sauve, Brenda Young (Bob), Margot John (late
Mark John), Sheila Stafford (Robin), William (Billy) Sauve, and Judy Sauve-Wilkins (Kevin). Her
grandchildren: Nicholas Sauve, Vincent Sauve, Sandra Sauve, Julie Sauve, Thomas Sauve, Jonathan
Sauve, Robert Sauve, Charles Sauve, Angela Sauve, Brigitte Sauve, Isabelle Sauve, Anthony Sauve, Jeff
Young, Allyson Ganz, Ryan Young, Dylan John, Amber Stafford, Nathan Stafford, Jake Wilkins, and Eddie
Wilkins. And her 23 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alice was a homemaker for many years and then worked in various roles with Statistics Canada in the
Ottawa area until her early retirement at age 55. Despite her own health issues, Alice enjoyed friends,
family, and her numerous grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, laughter, and golf with family and
friends. She had the most beautiful and gentle drive off the tee that consistently sailed straight down
the middle of the fairway!
Alice and Leo moved from Ontario to Alberta and later to British Columbia in 2003 where they enjoyed
family, friends, and life in the Rockies. Alice left her assisted-living residence in October 2021 and moved
back to Ontario to live with her daughter Sheila and husband Robin on a ten acre property in Apsley,
Ontario. Alice enjoyed all the wildlife from her command post at the living room window! Finally, due to
declining health, Alice embarked on the final stage of life and resided at Caressant Care in Marmora,
Ontario from August 2023 until she passed away on April 1, 2024. Words fall short of expressing our
thanks and appreciation to all the staff who cared and prayed for Alice! She received exceptional and
thoughtful care! A special thanks to all the staff for the kindness shown to her through every phase of
her stay! Truly the best people ever looked after Alice!
A joint memorial mass for Leo and Alice will be held in late August 2024 in Ottawa. More information
