Norman Edward Thurston (March 3, 1944 – November 27, 2023)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman Edward Thurston, on November 27th, 2023 at his home, in Thornhill, ON. Norman, known to many as ‘Norm’, leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth and enduring bonds.
Loving father to Nadine Thurston-Prior (son-in-law Michael Prior), Grant Thurston, and Yvonne von Both (nee Thurston) (son-in-law Ingo von Both), adoring grandfather to Violet Prior, Alexa, Ashley, and Conrad von Both, who were lights in his life, and devoted uncle to Corry and Robert Lunn.
Norm is predeceased by his parents, Thelma (nee Phillips) and Kenneth Thurston, in addition to his sister, Beverly Lunn.
He is survived by his former wife, Wendy Ann Thurston (nee MacRae). Together they navigated the journey of life, leaving behind many shared memories and experiences.
His impact on the lives of everyone he knew was immeasurable and he will be dearly missed.
Friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, December 6th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, ON. A service to celebrate Norm’s life will occur from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the SPCA, reflecting Norm’s lifelong love for all animals.
