Obituary of Mylena Woloszczuk
Mylena Woloszczuk
On December 1, 2023 in Markham, with loved ones by her side, Mylena Woloszczuk passed away at the age of 75. The daughter of the late Mirko and Gordana Vlahovic (née Krstic), Mylena was born in Lingen, Germany in 1948 and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. A graduate of Laurentian University in 1971, Mylena has spent most of her career teaching at École secondaire Rayside in Azilda. Mylena will be missed by her spouse Louis Mayrand, her children Anne Girbav (Michael) and Nicholas Woloszczuk (Karyn). Beloved sister of Sandra Fievoli (Michael) and Alexander Vlahovich (predeceased). Special thoughts to the pride of her life, grandsons Cameron and Maximus, and to several nieces and nephews. Mylena inspired joy to everyone around her, including many new friends that she met after moving to Markham more than a decade ago. Special appreciation for lively interactions with members of her Swan Lake Village aquafit class and book club. Many thanks to outstanding medical staff persons at Markham Stouffville, St. Michael’s, and Sunnybrook hospitals. Internment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Markham, close to the residence of several members of her immediate family. Mylena has reminded us about the importance of remaining serene, rather than having continued sorrow about her departure. In her own way, maybe she was saying what Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s character Le petit prince said prior to leaving this earth: “The essential is invisible to the eyes”. We will not see Mylena anymore, but her cherished dispositions will continue forever to inspire us.
