It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of Eleanore (Elly) Belmore in her 87 th
year on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Brockville General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years Alfred Henry Belmore (1997); parents Wilfred Mattice and Mildred Mattice (Osborne). Lovingly remembered by her only son Larry Belmore (Mary Bernard), her grandsons Greg (Briana) Belmore and Mark Belmore (Stacey Harper) and great-granddaughters Charlotte Belmore and Evelyn Belmore. As well as sister-in-law Stella Fontaine and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her sisters and spouses Joyce (Junior Cassell), Shirley (Ed Rice), Pat (Cam MacLennan), brother Glen and his wife Marie Mattice; niece Susan Cassell, George (Carm) Belmore, Harold (Jennie) Belmore, Fernand (Fern) Fontaine and nephews Jim Belmore David Rice, Bobby Belmore and niece Barbara Belmore.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, personal support workers and others that cared for
her while she lived on her own in Brockville and while residing at St. Lawrence Lodge LTCH, and
especially the staff at the Brockville General Hospital in what would be her last visit.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She always
put the needs of others ahead of her own. Over the years she volunteered with the Distress Centre and
regularly provided companionship to residents of retirement homes. She had a diverse work history, including owner/operator of a motel and later a general store with her husband. She had payroll, accounting and administrative roles with the St. Lawrence Parks Commission and the Provincial Courts to name but a few. She loved anything “Elvis” and had an extensive collection of his music and memorabilia.
Family and friends are invited to the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, Ontario on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 1-2 p. m. followed by a celebration of Eleanore’s life in the chapel. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brockville General Hospital will be greatly appreciated by the family.
