Kevin Glenn Cove passed away peacefully at LHSC – University Hospital on Monday, October 14th, 2024. He was surrounded by so much love with his family and lifelong friends by his side. Kevin showed a lot of courage as he bravely faced and fought a recent illness. Kevin was 46 years young, and his family and friends are completely heartbroken by his inconceivable loss.
Kevin leaves behind his beloved wife, Leanne, after 10 years of marriage and almost 14 years together. He was the loving son of the late Glenn Cove and Patricia Cove (née Radigan). Cherished younger brother of Barbara Cove, Brian & Kandy Cove, Kathy & Glen Regier, Sharon Reid and the late Kevin Reid. Kevin was dearly loved by Leanne’s parents Leonard & Doris Penner, brother David & Brooke Penner and the rest of Leanne’s extended family. Kevin was the adored uncle of Ryan & Amanda (Isabella, the late Roman), Rhiannon & Jeff (Shaelynn, Olivia), Kendra & Luke, Rachael & Jon (Ava, Tate, Finn), Nick & Abby, Josh & Olivia, Kristen & Evan, Sarah, Emily, Matthew & Hawa, Brennen and Brinley. Devoted pet dad to his late beloved dog, Molly. He was the beloved grandson of the late Phyllis and Edward Radigan, and Annie and William Cove. Kevin will be deeply missed by many long-time friends who considered him a brother, especially Lan and Rose Tran, Kevin O’Neill (Erika), Matthew Whitehead (Crystal), Craig Genys, Patrick Coghlan and Dan Twist. He cultivated many deep and lasting friendships throughout his life. His warmth and camaraderie enriched the lives of those around him, leaving a legacy of love and friendship that will endure.
Kevin was a fierce protector of everyone he cared about. He had a strong, larger than life personality; a kind, thoughtful and generous heart. He was quick to go out of his way to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Kevin was an extraordinary chef and an incredible host who loved to gather people together. His friends often referred to him as “the glue that held everyone together”. He had quick wit, was a great storyteller, liked to laugh and tell jokes, and often had a twinkle in his eye.
Kevin worked hard and excelled in everything that he pursued. He expressed his creativity through photography, capturing stunning images, and through laser engraving crafting meaningful gifts for others. Kevin loved to travel and took great pleasure in sampling the local cuisine, which he often replicated at home. Kevin and Leanne took many incredible trips and adventures in their time together – endless lasting memories cherished forever.
Kevin was happiest and most in his element at his parents’ home on the water on St. Joseph Island where he grew up. He loved being in nature, chopping wood, building fires, fishing, boating and spending time by the water. St. Joseph Island was a big part of his heart and soul.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at LHSC – University Hospital, who cared for him during his stay, and the palliative care team for their support and dedication.
We will always love you, Kevin. We will miss you every day. You will live on in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date, with details to be announced soon.
