It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer “Jenny” Jean Czarnecki (née Thornton) after a long courageous battle with cancer at Parkwood Hospital, London, with her family by her side on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the age of 78. Beloved wife to George for 55 years. Cherished Mother to Patrick (Tracy) and Cindy. Loving grandmother to Kyle; sister-in-law to Ingrid, Angela, Maria, and Carol. Predeceased by parents Noelle and Dr. Patrick Thornton; sisters, Lynn and Patty; and sister-in-law Edie.
Jenny was born in Mjanyana, South Africa, and travelled the world. She met her husband George on her travels in Toronto, Canada, and they continued to travel together.
Jenny was a sports enthusiast and especially loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays. She enjoyed cooking, reading and was always happy to share her recipes and knowledge. Jenny loved to knit and sew and was able to make the most beautiful Christmas gifts! Jenny loved nothing more than spending summers with family and friends at the cottage on Kennaway Lake, and the same with her winters in Fort Myers, Florida.
A private family funeral will take place at Westview Funeral Chapel and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
For those who wish, donations can be made to the Parkwood Institute, London Ontario – Palliative Care Unit in the name of Jennifer Czarnecki. A special thank you to all the nurses for the wonderful care they provided to Jenny and the family in the palliative care unit.
