Obituary of Gerry Kightley
Kightley- John Gerald “Gerry” of London and formerly of Lambeth at the age of 89, passed away on December 18, 2024. Loving husband of 72 years of Barbara (Meriam) Kightley. Dear father of Ken Kightley (Michelle White) of Strathroy, Anne Johnson (Gary Demeyere) of Dorchester and Kim Kightley (Jeff Snow) of Hamilton. Special grandpa of Aaron (Carol Lyn), Andrew (Melissa) and Matthew. He was predeceased by his grandson Ryan. Survived by his sister Phyllis Johnston. Predeceased by siblings Bud, Paul, Ron, Gord, Donna and Helen. He is survived by sisters-in-law Kish Kightley, Catherine Gauthier (late Dick) and Yvonne Meriam (late Wes). Gerry was a 35-year employee of the Matthews Group. Gerry always put his family first, he loved fishing and camping. He volunteered at the Daily Bread and was active at St. Anne’s Church.
The family would like to thank the palliative care team at University Hospital as well as the long term care 5th floor at Chelsey Park for all their care and compassion.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at St. Anne’s Anglican (Byron) Church, 1344 Commissioners Rd W., London on Friday January 3rd at Noon. Interment of ashes to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 -12:00. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anne’s Church (or by visiting stannesbyron.ca and click on “donate now” button) or to the Parkinsons foundation in memory of Gerry.
