1943 – 2024
Cathy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, surrounded by loving family and caring staff. We cherished quality time with her following a cancer diagnosis in 2021 and recent recurrence. Cathy was predeceased by her older sister Wilma MacPherson, and will be deeply missed by her loving husband Fred Cameron, children Jena (Adrian) and Blair (Jackie), sister Muriel Garland, brother Blair Craven, four loving grandchildren, family and many cherished friends.
Born in Sydney, NS, Cathy met and married her love, Fred, in Halifax. They later moved to Ottawa, then Ajax, and finally London in 1981. Cathy earned a Master of Social Work and touched the hearts of many with caring support throughout a 20-year career in perinatal social work at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London.
Cathy had a special wisdom, grace, and ever-positive outlook. She loved hosting friends and family in her beautiful home, enjoyed travel adventures with Fred, sought challenge in retirement with SLR group, and enjoyed many special friendships, including her beloved book club of 20+ years. We are lucky to have had in Cathy a wife, mother, and friend who loved us so deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., with a visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in memory of Cathy are invited to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice.
