Obituary of Angelo Marakos
At University Hospital with his family and loved ones by his side, Angelo Marakos passed away peacefully in his 97th year (on June 30, 2024). Beloved husband of 67 years to Katina (Rekoumis) Marakos. Loving father of Maria (Tom) Karidas. Dear Pappou to Lia Karidas (George Skagos), and Katerina (Yanni) Alexandropoulos. Proud great-grandfather to Kristina Maria Alexandropoulos. Predeceased by his brother, Kosta. Angelo will be missed by sisters and brothers in law, and nieces and nephews throughout Canada, Greece, and the United States.
Angelo arrived in Canada in 1956, and established himself as a hard-working, life affirming community member, having contributed greatly towards the establishment and development of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community of London and Vicinity. A familiar face around London, in the hospitality and athletic circles, Angelo was devoted to his wife Katina, for 67 years. He was well known for his laughter, zest for life, and commitment to his Church community and family.
Visitation will be held at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario (between Waterloo & Colborne St.), on Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 6-9 p.m.
Trisagion Prayers will be conducted in the Logan Chapel Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., London, Ontario on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario.
