SCHUT, John Henry (aka “Shooter”) July 1, 1948 –June 26, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Henry Schut (aka Shooter) on Wednesday June 26, 2024. John died peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit, five days before his 76th birthday. John was surrounded by friends and family following a short and aggressive battle with cancer. John was and always will be the cherished Husband of Margaret Schut (nee Overdyk), the loving Father of Dianah Jones-Schut, and the extremely proud Grandfather of Samantha Hollingsworth (Randy) and Nichole Fielder. Doting Great Grandfather of Riley and Scotty Hollingsworth. John is survived by his Sister Betty Brown (Bob). Predeceased by his youngest Sister Clary Overdyk and the beloved Uncle to Kevin and Selena.
Throughout his 75 years of life, John spent a large portion of his life alongside his Wife Margaret owning J&M Auto Sales. John will forever be remembered for his big hands, his big laugh, and his big heart. Every person who stepped onto the car lot always left with a memorial connection to John.
Our family would like to extend a massive thank you to the Ross Memorial Hospital, specifically to Dr. Brent MacMillan, Dr. Stone, and all of the Nurses on the Rehabilitation Floor. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit for all of your support and care you gave John during his final days.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. The family encourages donations to be made to the Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Kawartha Lakes Humane Society.
Our family sends condolences to all of those who got the privilege to know John. We hold confidence that our dearest John is now riding his Harley on his forever journey in the blue skies.
