PIGGOTT, George Joseph – Passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital on Friday, February 23, 2024 in his 87th year. George was the beloved twin brother of Paul (Marilyn), brother to Dianne Evans (Wayne), and brother-in-law to Fran. Loving uncle to Carol Kelly (Craig), Stephen Lucas (Maria), Dan (Judy), Mike (Kelly), John, Dale (Angela), David (Sheila), Tim (Lee Anne), Greg (Colleen), Julie Hull (Harold), Lisa Stebbins (Ted), Matthew (Natalie), Angie Wilkes (Andrew), Paul Evans, and Jeff Evans (Amanda). He will also be missed by many great nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his parents James and Mary Piggott, and siblings, Alma Ryan (Barry), Eileen Lucas (Keith), Mark, and Steve.
Many will remember George as a longtime educator in the former Victoria County Board of Education. He spent most of his career teaching technological studies at Central Senior Public School. George had a generous spirit, volunteering his time at St. Andrew’s Soup Kitchen and supporting numerous local charities. Cherished memories were made on the Piggott family farm where George spent his entire life. Different generations enjoyed bbqs and tractor rides over the years. He will be missed by loved ones, friends, and the community he valued so much.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Luke Church, Downeyville on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Luke Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke Church Restoration Fund or a charity of your choice.
