It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas William Smith on December 4, 2024 at the age of 82. Beloved Husband of the late Margaret Ann Smith. Cherished Father of Lisa Smith of Cornwall. Dear brother of Marie Dawson (predeceased), Gary Smith (predeceased), Sandra Gilchrist (Richard), and Paul (Denise) Smith. Brother-In-Law of William (Marilyn) Downs. Mary Needle, and Audrey Downs. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pre-deceased by his father William Smith and mother Alice (Geach) Smith.
Doug had a strong work ethic, employed as an autoworker for decades at the General Motors plant in Oshawa. He was an avid rail enthusiast and was a long-time member of the Lindsay and District Model Engineer Club.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, on May 5th 2025 at 11am with a graveside internment at Riverside Cemetery to follow.
