With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our precious Douglas on Monday March 4, 2024, at WRH Met Campus. Beloved husband of Myra Wakeman for over 72 years. Cherished father of Laura (late Daniel Lewis). Treasured grandfather of Victoria (Aaron Lapczuk). Loving and proud GG of Owen Alexander and Eric Douglas Lapczuk. Also survived by his son Mark. Douglas was the son of the late John and Lillie McCauley, and youngest brother of the late Warren and Robert. Loved son in law of the late James and Mary Wakeman.
We remember Douglas for his devotion to his family; he was our sanctuary, wise advisor and protector. Douglas was a graduate of the Ford Trade School and a forty-year retiree of Ford Canada. A proud Canadian, his formative years were spent in Havana, Cuba fostering a lifelong love of travel.
The family wish to acknowledge the staff at Season’s Royal Oak, LaSalle for their loving care of Douglas and the staff at WRH for supporting him with dignity in his final days.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment is planned.
