Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of Pat Waters (nee O’Leary) for 61 years.
Loving father of Bill (Mary), Deb Stock (Joe).
Cherished grandfather of Mitchell (Emily), Julie, Danielle (Steve), Emily (Brandon) and Kate.
Dear brother of Jack Waters (late Mary), Anne Stephenson (Bob) and MaryJo Mead (Russ).
Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews
Predeceased by his parents Joseph Waters and Betty (nee Marchen) and siblings, Patricia Henry, Bill (Rosalee).
Making people smile and laugh was Ron’s superpower. His kids always had the benefit of a good ‘pull my finger’ joke and his brothers and sisters often talked about how he would bring joy and laughter to their lives. Even when his disease took over, he still managed to make people around him break out in smiles and laughter.
When it came to building and repairing, there was nothing Ron couldn’t do. From the amazing landscape architecture in his backyard to the many volunteer construction jobs at St. Michael’s, Ron was a miracle maker. If he weren’t an acclaimed Electrical Engineer in the Royal Canadian Air Force and subsequently Raytheon Canada, he would surely have been a home builder, furniture maker or an auto mechanic. His friends and family were often the beneficiaries of his incredible talents.
At a young age, Ron always loved dogs. From his first pup, Sam the German Shepherd, to his last pup, Mei Li, his Shih Tzu and main sidekick, Ron was rarely without a dog. We’re sure the first thing Ron does when he gets to the pearly gates is to ask where the dogs are. Oh, and he’ll offer to fix the squeak in the gate.
And nothing will define Ron more than his absolute love for his wife, Pat. He lived for her. Every time she would have to leave, Pat would say, “I’ll see you”, and Ron would respond, “Anon”. Even when his disease took over and Ron had difficulty, Pat would say, “I’ll see you.” And he would still respond “Anon”.
Well, Ron, we’ll see you…….Anon!
Private cremation has taken place. Memorial service details will be announced later. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
