Leonard Joseph Punambolam:
February 26, 1949- September 14, 2024
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, ON.
Born in Berbice, Guyana, Leonard had keen interests in education, cooking, politics, and engineering. Leonard attended the highly competitive and sought after Port Morant Training School, commonly known as “Training School” where they only admitted 24 students annually.
Leonard immigrated to Canada as a student in 1970, and attended the University of Waterloo and Conestoga College for engineering.
Leonard leaves behind his wife Mavis of 54 years and children Leon (Ceyda), Ryan (Shalini), Melissa (Duane), and Brian (Rita May). He leaves his precious grandchildren: Arina, Olivia, Nina, Elias, Imani, Milan, Lucy and Josephine.
Predeceased by his parents Cyril Patrick and Lutchmee Patrick.
The Punambolam family would like to thank the staff at Freeport Hospital for their compassionate care.
Leonard’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, September 16th, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers to begin at 7:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Parish, 80 University Ave., W., Waterloo on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at 10:30 AM. Reception to follow in the church hall.
