It is with deep sadness that the family of Karl Joseph Fox announce his peaceful passing on September 27 after a courageous, brief battle with cancer at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of Alice (McDonald) with whom he built an enduring bond over 14 years, loving brother to Carol Kropf and brother-in-law, Leonard Fitzsimmons, loving uncle to Christine Kropf, Joseph Fuchs, Rebecca Wry, and Sarah Jarvis Ried, and brother-in-law to Lilian Fuchs.
As a young man Karl enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Far East for many years (1959-1965). After his honorable discharge he attended WLU and acquired a teaching position with Conestoga College, retiring after 27 years in 1997. He enjoyed the College very much and looked forward to going there every day.
After retirement Karl found interesting employment in the United Arab Emirates and China as a visiting professor. He was a fervent traveler, having visited and worked in over 140++ countries.
In his retirement, Karl lived with his future wife, Alice, in both Dunnellon, Florida, and Waterloo, Ontario. Accompanied by Alice, he gave travel presentations on numerous cruise ships throughout the world. They had 14 wonderful years together. Karl had a remarkably interesting, exciting, and satisfying life which he enjoyed with his many friends and loved ones.
Karl’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 with a Memorial Service in the chapel at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a wildlife fund would be appreciated.
