Jack was born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario. He lost his mother, Lydia Thaler, at
an early age and was soon adopted by Rosemary and Gordon Bell.
He spent his careerworking for the City of Toronto in their pension division.
Jack had interests in history, and travel and delighted in enjoying good and exotic food.
After his retirement, Jack spent time living in Mexico City and South America. Upon his
return to Canada, he took time to enjoy classic cars and long drives around the
province. He also reconnected with the Thaler family and enjoyed several trips with his
cousins, and their annual reunion.
The memories of a life well-lived and well-travelled graced Jack’s final years, where he
lived at Pinehaven Nursing Home and later, Winston Park Nursing Home. As Jack told
family on several occasions, the workers at those residences enriched his life and
became a family to him.
A special thanks to Didi and her entire team at the Haysville Residence of Winston
Park. Your care for Jack was exceptional and he loved each of you.
Cremation has taken place and Jack will be interred alongside his mother Lydia at
Greenwood Cemetery Owen Sound at a later date.
