Carl Henry Hoffman passed away peacefully in his home on July 13, 2024.
He was a caring husband, supportive father, proud grandfather and a helping hand to everyone. Survived by his devoted wife and best friend Ilse, daughter Christine Hoffman and her husband Jason Thompson along with their children Jeremy, Ryan and Bonnie, and daughter Carolyn Doering and her husband Jason along with their children Benjamin and Joshua. Remembered by his caring siblings Bill and his late wife Shirely, Larry and his wife Judy, Barb Black and her husband Barry, and Bob. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law’s Ursula Totzke and Monica Jutzi and her late husband Jeff. Carl was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Theresia Hoffman, and parent’s in-law Friedrich and Frieda Bonkowski. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Carl had a special bond with his Black Wednesday fishing group. They treated each other like brothers and enjoyed many fishing trips, meetings to plan the trips and of course playing in the Beer Belly Band. The Gut Bucket was Carl’s specialty. More recently Dad has been working with a supportive group of gentlemen on the St. Luke’s Lutheran church building maintenance team. Like with anything Carl did, he was a wealth of knowledge that people depended on. He worked for an astonishing 47 years at Sutherland-Schultz. He started as an apprentice and was promoted through the ranks ending his career as a Senior Project Manager. In those 47 years he gained the respect of hundreds of clients, suppliers, and fellow tradesmen.
Carl enjoyed curling, golfing, skiing and playing badminton. These were activities that he could enjoy with his wife and friends.
Carl’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
